Talk on ‘Importance of Constitution’ for first year engineering students
Dr. P Anantha Krishna Bhat, Retd. Professor of Political Sciences addressed the first year students of engineering, on the importance of the Constitution, particularly stressing the need for engineers to have a strong foundation in constitutional principles. He highlighted that just as a mother fairly distributes food among her children, the Constitution distributes powers among ministers, ensuring a balanced and just governance system. This analogy made the complex idea of power distribution easily relatable and understandable.
Dr. Bhat also delved into the inception of the Indian Constitution, tracing its origins to the historical context of kingship and the evolution of governance in India. He spoke about the transition from monarchical rule, where power was centralized in the hands of kings, to a democratic system, where power is distributed across various institutions. He explained how fundamental documents were created through thoughtful deliberation to ensure justice, liberty, and equality for all citizens.
By discussing these critical aspects, Dr. Bhat highlighted the enduring relevance of the Constitution, not just for politicians and lawyers but for all professionals, including engineers. He conveyed that a strong understanding of constitutional values would help engineers not only in their careers but also in contributing to the nation's progress within the framework of law and governance
