Placements and Training: 17 Recruited by Tech Mahindra

Tech Mahindra has once again recognized top talent, recruiting 17 bright students from various engineering disciplines as Supercoders. These students, hailing from Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AIML), Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), and Information Science & Engineering (ISE), have demonstrated exceptional coding and problem-solving skills to secure this prestigious opportunity. Among the selected candidates are Sinchana and Yagnik S Ram from AIML, Deepanshu Sharma, Navya R Shetty, Priyanshu, Tejashree Nagappa Patgar, Vidhisha Shetty, and Devika M J from CSE, Keerthi L Bangera from ECE, and Abhishek Gadhar, Anjali P Nambiar, Apoorva Premanand Kamat, Aravind Reddy J V, K Rakshitha, Nisarga Ramesh Naik, Rakshita Satyanarayan Yaji, and Sushmitha from ISE.

ECE student secures Internship at Megamind Studios

Divyanidhi Rai, a student from the Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering has secured an internship at Megamind Studios.
Megamind Studios is a leading company specializing in digital marketing, branding, and content creation. It helps businesses establish a strong online presence through innovative strategies. This internship will provide hands-on experience in

social media management, digital branding, and content marketing, enabling our students to explore new domains beyond engineering.

CSE Dept. organized a Workshop on ‘Research writing and Funding opportunities’ led by Dr. Abhishek Vaish, IIIT Allahabad (Pragyaraj), UP

On 6th Mar, 2025, a workshop on ‘Research writing and Funding opportunities’ organized by the CSE Dept was inaugurated in the presence of the resource person Dr. Abhishek Vaish, IIIT Allahabad (Pragyaraj), UP; the Principal Dr. S S Injaganeri; HOD-CSE, Dr. Mustafa Basthikodi and Dear-Research Dr. Rathischandra Gatti.
Post the inauguration, Dr. Vaish motivated the faculty members of the vast opportunities in the field of research. He highlighted the importance of faculty collaboration in research and stressed the value of platforms like GitHub for researchers. He also mentioned of the 2024 Touring Award, which was granted to research in reinforcement learning, and elaborated on how machines are tested based on their decision-making capabilities.
Dr. Abhishek also gave a detailed explanation of how research papers are reviewed and accepted for publication. In his concluding remarks, Dr. Vaish expressed his interest to co-author research papers with the faculty members, encouraging collaboration and active participation in the research process.
Prof. Harisha, Assistant Dean of Innovation, and Prof. Prajwal Rao, IIC Coordinator of the CSE Department coordinated the workshop.

SOSC Members complete InUnity Projects

Himanshu Shetty and Pratheek G Shetty from 3rd year CSE, along with Koshin Hegde from 2nd year CSE, members of the Sahyadri Open-Source Community (SOSC), successfully delivered projects to InUnity and were rewarded for their contributions. The project involved preparing a comprehensive set of coding questions and implementing a rubric to evaluate skills.

It also featured a system to generate a PDF-based report, providing a structured UI for skill assessment. Through their skills and dedication, they transformed ideas into impactful solutions, showcasing the potential of student developers in executing real-world projects and making a difference.

Dr Prabhu interacts with the judges of Burma (Myanmar) at the National Judicial Academy

Dr. Ananth Prabhu G, Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Principal Investigator at the Digital Forensics and Cyber Security Centre of Excellence was invited by the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal to interact with 52 Judges from Burma.

In a significant moment of recognition, Dr. Ananth Prabhu G was honored to receive a token of appreciation from the esteemed judges of Myanmar during an insightful interaction at the National Judicial Academy, Bhopal.

The session focused on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and the judiciary, exploring its transformative role in legal systems worldwide. Dr. Prabhu expressed his deep gratitude to the Honorable Director, Justice Aniruddha Bose, as well as Course Coordinator Sumit Bhattacharya and Ankita for facilitating this enriching exchange of knowledge.

The session concluded with an exhaustive round of Q and A.

Research Article of CSE faculty accepted for publication at Future Generation Computer Systems (Q1 Rating Journal)

The research paper titled "Dual Mode Sign Language Communication Module: A Web Based Prediction Model", authored by Dr. Shivanna K, Associate Professor of Computer Science & Engineering has been accepted for publication in Future Generation Computer System, a Q1 journal to lead the way in advances in distributed systems, collaborative environments, high performance and

high performance computing, Big Data on such infrastructures as grids, clouds and the Internet of Things (IoT).
The paper describes the limitations of current systems by creating an app that enables two-way communication between individuals with hearing impairments and those without. It will utilize dynamic gestures and a centralized platform that can be accessed by everyone. The intended system comprises two modules: one for translating sign gestures into speech and the other for converting speech into 2D animated sign gestures. To achieve this, a dataset comprising of 10 words was recorded. Using a webcam, we captured video sequences of individuals performing sign language gestures, employing Media Pipe Holistic and OpenCV in the process. Sign gesture-to-speech conversion is realized using a LSTM deep learning algorithm, while text-to-2D sign gesture conversion involves keyword extraction from live speech and subsequent development of 2D animated gestures based on these extracted keywords. Through this innovative approach, the objective of this system is to facilitate interaction among people with hearing disabilities and the broader community, aiming to close the communication divide.
