Sahyadri ranked 5th in VTU Sports and Games

In the 2024-25 academic year, Sahyadri achieved an impressive 5th Place in Sports & Games, scoring a total of 764 points. This notable accomplishment was achieved among 219 colleges affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi.

Valedictory Ceremony: Protothon 2026, a 24-Hour Innovation Hackathon

Protothon 2026 organized by Sahyadri and MEITY StartupHub – Genesis, in collaboration with SahynexTechsolutions Pvt. Ltd., Technical Career Education (TCE), and Discover Dollar concluded with a Valedictory Ceremony on 14th March 2026. The hackathon created a dynamic environment where participants addressed real-world industrial challenges using emerging technologies, especially Artificial Intelligence.

Over the course of 24 hours, teams demonstrated exceptional creativity, collaboration, and technical expertise. Participants brainstormed ideas, developed prototypes, debugged their solutions, and refined their projects with guidance from experienced mentors and industry professionals.

The event was graced by distinguished industry professionals including Mr. Rakesh Kumar Desai, Cloud Data Architect at Ecolab, and Mr. Vishwanath Pai, Embedded Engineer at Tiny Prism Labs Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru. Their presence and encouragement added immense value to the event.

The ceremony also featured an inspiring closing address by Dr. S. S. Injaganeri Principal, who applauded the students for their dedication, creativity, and commitment to innovation.

After careful evaluation by the judges, the winning teams were announced and felicitated for their outstanding projects. The judges appreciated the high quality of ideas and the determination shown by all participants throughout the hackathon.

Igniting Ideas, Inspiring Innovators – Start-up Spark 2026 at Sahyadri

‘Start-up Spark – Igniting Student Ideas | Empowering Innovators’ outreach session was hosted on 12th March jointly organized by the Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) in collaboration with ecosystem partners including AIC NITTE Incubation Centre, K-Tech Innovation Hub-(CIF), Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM), Vertex Workspace, as part of the outreach initiative for the SPARK Ideathon 2026. The program aimed to inspire students to explore entrepreneurship, innovation, and start-up ecosystems.

The program was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Pratham Hegde, Co-founder and Business Head, truelift; Aditya Ramanath Poonja, Business Development Executive, AIC Nitte; Ashik Shetty, NITTE–GOK Centre of Excellence | AQUAMARIN; Vaishakh Pai K, Cluster Manager, Karnataka Digital Economy Mission and the team representing Vertex Workspace - Akshatha K, Community Manager; Nishmitha Shetty, Community Manager; Akruthi Shetty, Assistant Marketing Manager; Ashwin Prabhu, Marketing Lead, along with Dr. Anush Bekal, Head of the Department of ECE.

An inspiring keynote by Pratham Hegde on “From Engineer to Entrepreneur: Turning Technical Skills into Start-ups” highlighted how engineering knowledge can be transformed into impactful ventures. The talk was followed by an engaging interaction with students. Representatives from AIC Nitte Incubation Centre and the NITTE–GOK Centre of Excellence | Aquamarine briefly introduced incubation opportunities and innovation programs available for student entrepreneurs.

Vaishak Pai from the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM) shared insights on the start-up ecosystem and government support initiatives in Karnataka. The session also featured a short presentation on the Vertex Internship Initiative by Akshatha K, highlighting opportunities for students to engage with start-ups and gain industry exposure.

Sahyadri NSS Unit organized First Aid Training Programme

The Sahyadri NSS Unit organized a First Aid Training Programme for the NSS volunteers on 14th March 2026 with the objective of equipping students with essential life-saving skills and knowledge required during emergencies. A total of 47 NSS volunteers actively participated in the programme.

The session was conducted by Mr. Ankith S. Kumar, who is a multi-faceted professional serving as a Behavioural Scientist, Psycho-Social Support Counsellor, certified Emergency First Aid Responder, and Personality Development Trainer. Ankith demonstrated various first aid techniques, including the right method to respond during emergencies, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), and first aid measures for bleeding, burns, fractures, minor cuts, and wounds. The training also highlighted several practical ways to provide immediate assistance to injured or unconscious individuals before professional medical help arrives.

On this occasion, Principal Dr. Injaganeri and Dean of Student Welfare Dr. Prashanth Rao encouraged the students to actively participate in such life-saving training programmes. They emphasized that learning first aid is an important responsibility for every individual and reminded the volunteers that “service to humanity is the highest dharma”. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Rashmitha G. Nishal, SWO and NSS Officer, and Mr. Nikhil, SWO.

An online session on “Attainment of Course Outcomes and Program Outcomes” was conducted for Faculty Members

An online session on “Attainment of Course Outcomes and Program Outcomes” was conducted on 14th March 2026 for faculty members. The resource person for the session was Dr. G. Priyatam Kumar, Professor, Department of ECE, KLE Technological University.

During his session, Dr. Priyatam Kumar explained how to frame clear and measurable Course Outcomes (COs) using action verbs from Bloom’s Taxonomy and align them with POs and PSOs through proper CO–PO mapping. He also briefed on CO attainment calculation, setting targets, gap analysis, continuous improvement, and the importance of documentation for NBA and NAAC accreditation under the OBE framework.

Faculty members of the Engineering and MBA programs participated in the session and clarified their queries regarding CO formulation and attainment calculations.

The session was attended by Dr. Shamanth Rai, Dean-Academics; Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA Program; Dr. Anush Bekal, HoD Dept. ECE; Dr. Rithesh Pakkala, HoD Dept. ISE, along with faculty members.

Sahyadri NSS unit - Cleaning Drive at Mangaladevi Temple

The Sahyadri NSS Unit, in association with Ramakrishna Ashram Mangaluru, organized a cleaning drive at the premises of Mangaladevi Temple on 14th March 2026. The programme was conducted with the objective of promoting cleanliness, environmental awareness, and the spirit of social responsibility among students.

A total of 65 NSS volunteers actively participated in the drive. The students enthusiastically engaged in cleaning the temple surroundings, collecting waste, and ensuring that the premises were maintained in a neat and hygienic condition. The activity aimed to create awareness among the public about the importance of maintaining cleanliness in religious and public places. The cleaning drive was carried out with the support and guidance of the members of Ramakrishna Ashram. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Rashmitha G. Nishal, NSS Officer. Prof. Thrivikram, Dept. of Mathematics, and Prof. Sinchana, Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering, were also present during the programme and supported the volunteers.

Dr Prabhu interacts with senior IRS officers

Dr. Ananth Prabhu G, Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Principal Investigator at the Digital Forensics and Cyber Security Centre of Excellence, was invited by the National Academy for Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN), Bhopal, to interact with senior IRS Customs officers from across India.

Key points discussed during the interaction included:

• The rise of AI-enabled cybercrimes and how criminals are using generative AI for phishing, fraud, and impersonation.

• Deepfake technology and its potential misuse in financial fraud, blackmail, and social engineering attacks.

• Dark web marketplaces and how illegal goods, narcotics, stolen data, and hacking tools are traded anonymously.

• Cryptocurrency transactions and the challenges faced by enforcement agencies in tracing illicit financial flows.

• Use of OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence) tools for digital investigations and intelligence gathering.

• Social engineering techniques used by cyber criminals to manipulate victims and bypass security systems.

• The growing threat of ransomware attacks targeting institutions, businesses, and government agencies.

• Digital evidence collection, preservation, and the importance of proper cyber forensics in prosecution.

• The role of international cooperation and cyber intelligence sharing in combating transnational cybercrimes.

• The importance of continuous training and cyber awareness for enforcement officers in the rapidly evolving digital ecosystem.

Sahyadri Team at the Awareness Program on ‘NBA Accreditation & NIRF Ranking and the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2025’ by the Education Promotion Society for India (EPSI)

The Sahyadri Team, including Dr. Srinath, COO and the IQAC & NBA Coordinators Dr. Vasudeva Rao P V and Mr. Ganaraj K and Dr. Anush Bekal, HoD of Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering attended an insightful interactive session on “Building Awareness on NBA Accreditation & NIRF Ranking and the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2025” organized by the Education Promotion Society for India (EPSI) on 13th March 2026 at Hotel Gokulam Grand, Bengaluru.

The keynote by Dr. Anil Kumar Nassa, Member Secretary, NBA, offered valuable insights on accreditation expectations and institutional quality, while the session by Mr. Naveen Goyal highlighted the importance of data governance under the DPDP Act, 2025.

Chairman Dr. Manjunath Bhandary, joined the team from Sahyadri. The session featured valuable insights on NBA accreditation, NIRF ranking frameworks, and data governance under the DPDP Act, offering meaningful perspectives for strengthening institutional quality and compliance.
