Sahyadri Carnival 2025, a flagship event of MBA Dept.

Sahyadri Carnival 2025 kicked off on May 23rd, 2025, featuring an exciting array of events including the Job Fair, Marketverse (Business Stalls, Management and Cultural events), Whiz Quiz, Faculty Development Program and Student Corner. The inauguration ceremony marked the commencement of an exciting two-day event 23rd and 24th May, 2025 filled with promise and anticipation. The ceremony was graced by esteemed guests: Mr. Yathish Baikampady, Former CEO of Beach Tourism Development Project; Ms. Suhasini Shankar Billava, Procurement Analyst, Zarami, Saudi Arabia (alumni from the MBA Batch 2018-20) and Mr. Akshay Ballal, Australian Cricketer (played KPL and Easter Cricket Cup). Among the distinguished attendees were Vice-Principal, Dr. Sudheer Shetty; Director-MBA Program, Dr. Vishal Samartha; Prof. Ramesh K G, Dean-Strategic Planning and Prof. Monisha Shetty, Convenor-Sahyadri Carnival. Also, present were the student coordinators.

Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA Program, delivered a heartfelt welcome address, introducing Sahyadri Institution and setting the tone for the much-anticipated Sahyadri Carnival 2025. Prof. Monisha Shetty presented a visual snapshot of Sahyadri Carnival 2025, highlighting the impressive participation statistics across various events.
In his inaugural address, Mr. Yathish Baikampady expressed his delight in returning to Sahyadri, a place he cherishes for its enriching experiences. He commended the visionary leadership of Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman of Sahyadri, applauding his commitment to nurturing future leaders. Describing the event as “action-packed,” he officially declared Sahyadri Carnival 2025 open.

Alumna Suhasini Billava shared a heartfelt reflection on her journey as an MBA student at Sahyadri. She described the institution not just as a centre for academic excellence, but as a transformative space that shaped her personally and professionally.
Mr. Akshay Ballal encouraged participants to give their best in the cricket tournament, highlighting the sport’s ability to teach valuable life lessons. He concluded his address with a memorable quote: “All great cricketers started from gully cricket,” inspiring participants to aim high, regardless of where they begin.

Delivering the presidential address, Dr. Sudheer Shetty highlighted Sahyadri’s recent achievements in placements, sports, and the prestigious funding support received from AICTE. He urged students to make the most of the carnival by actively participating in events and taking the opportunity to explore the college’s in-house companies.
Notable statistics from the event include the setup of 48 stalls, including 18 from the Student Corner. The Job Fair attracted participation from 55 companies, with over 1200 confirmed aspirants. Whiz Quiz featured over 450 students competing in the Grand Finale.

Sahyadri Boys Handball team emerged as Runners at the VTU Inter-Collegiate Mangaluru Division Handball Championship held at BIT, Mangaluru on 23rd May 2025.

CSE Dept. organized Knowledge sharing session on ‘Solidity and OpenSSL Programming’

Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering organized a session on “Solidity and OpenSSL Programming” for third-year Computer Science & Engineering students. The session was handled by Prof. Shailesh Shetty, Head of the Department of Computer Science and Business Systems at Srinivas Institute of Technology, during his visit to the campus. With 15 years of experience in academia and research, Mr. Shetty is an expert in Blockchain, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning. He is also actively involved in research, publications, and student mentorship.
During the session, Mr. Shailesh Shetty delivered an engaging introduction to blockchain technology, covering key topics such as types of blockchains (including private blockchains), Bitcoin, and practical applications. Participants gained valuable insights into blockchain’s decentralized structure, consensus mechanisms, and real-world use cases in domains like voting systems, medical records, and secure transactions. The session emphasized the growing significance of Blockchain, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning across diverse industries. The event was coordinated by Dr. Poornima B V, Prof. Srinivas P M and Prof. Prajwal Rao.

Day 7 – Solo Dance Competition Showcases Grace and Rhythm

Day 7 of UTKhanan 4.0 – 2025 featured a vibrant Solo Dance Competition, where 30 participants showcased their talent through semi-classical and contemporary dance forms. The stage came alive with expressive movements, graceful transitions, and energetic performances that blended tradition with modern flair. The event was a vibrant celebration of talent, energy, and artistic confidence. It left the audience in awe, making it one of the most dynamic and engaging events of the extravaganza.

Dr Prabhu interacts with senior IRS (Customs) officers at Palasamudram

Dr. Ananth Prabhu G, Professor in the Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering and Principal Investigator at the Digital Forensics and Cyber Security Centre of Excellence was invited by the National Academy for Customs Indirect taxes and Narcotics, Palasamudram to deliver a lecture on Cyber Intelligence for Customs.
The 3-hour lecture was attended by 27 senior officers of the rank of Principal Commissioners and above. Director General Sri Subramanyam, IRS felicitated Dr. Prabhu.

CSE faculty member was invited as a resource person at St. Joseph’s Joyland High School, Kolya

Prof. Chaithra S, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, was invited as a resource person at St Joseph’s Joyland High School, Kolya, Mangalore to deliver an orientation session on Teaching learning pedagogy, a continuous three-hour interactive session. The session included hands-on activities and was designed for a group of around 35 primary and high school teachers, each with a teaching experience ranging from 16 to 33 years. The goal was to provide practical insights and strategies they could immediately apply in their classrooms. The teachers actively participated throughout, making the session both engaging and productive. At the end, their feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many appreciating the clarity of the concepts presented, the relevance of the practical examples shared, and the overall engaging delivery.
