ECE students Excel at State-Level Ideathon organized by CIT, Gubbi

Students from the Dept. of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE) have achieved a remarkable feat. The fifth semester ECE students - Aditi Kamat and Bhumika Narayan reached the final stage of the prestigious State-Level Ideathon organized by Channabasaveshwara Institute of Technology, Gubbi, Tumkur, in collaboration with the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) Karnataka Section.
Their innovative project, “Smart Contact Lens for Glucose Detection”, was recognized for its originality and potential to revolutionize non-invasive healthcare monitoring. The final round of the competition, held on 21st November, 2024, at the CIT campus, provided a platform for participants to present ideas addressing real-world challenges.
The project by Aditi and Bhumika, guided by their mentor Prof. Abhishek A B Nayak highlighted the technical expertise and problem-solving approach bringing recognition to the department and the institution.
The competition not only allowed the students to showcase their skills but also offered an opportunity to interact with innovators from across the state, gaining insights and exposure to emerging trends in technology.

Sahyadri Boys Cricket Team secured Runners-Up in VTU Mangaluru Division Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament-2024 organized by NMAMIT, Nitte on 22nd to 28th November 2024. A total of 18 teams participated in this tournament.

Constitution Day Celebrated in Sahyadri

The Constitution Day was celebrated by taking oath to follow the Preamble of Indian Constitution by students of Sahyadri. The students of First year and Second year MBA took oath, which was the Preamble of Indian Constitution today (26th November 2024). Dr. S S Injaganeri, Principal spoke after the oath taking. He said – “The values of equality and fraternity are the essence of Indian constitution. Knowing that the Constitution upholds such values, knowing that Constitution has the guidelines for Citizens, the youth can feel empowered. When the citizens know the aspirations of the Constitution, they make a life of peace and harmony in the Country”.
The NSS unit of the college along with the MBA Department had organized the event. Ms. Smitha Shenoy, NSS Programme Officer administered the oath. Prof. Akashatha P and Prof. Anirudh Bhat, Dept, of Business Administration; Ms. Rashmitha Nishal, SWO and Mr. Nikhil Y S, Assistant SWO and Mr. Karthik Alva, Founder of Thrust Academy were present.

ISE Faculty Members publish Paper at the International Conference held at MIT, Manipal

Prof. Masooda, Prof. Suchetha G and Prof. Harinakhi C, faculty members from the Dept. of Information Science & Engineering published a paper titled "A Novel Face Liveness Detection System for the Identification of Real and Fake Images using Deep Learning Model” at the 2nd International Conference on Robotics, Control, Automation and Artificial Intelligence, at Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal. The conference was jointly organized by the Dept. of Mechatronics, MIT, Manipal, and the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, NITK, Surathkal. The paper is published in the Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering (LNEE) series of Springer publications, which is indexed by Scopus.

Mechanical Engineering faculty attended five days FDP on ‘Additive Manufacturing’ held at NITK Surathkal

Dr. Vaishak N L, Associate Professor in the Dept. of MERA, participated in a five-day Faculty Development Program held at the National Institute of Technology Surathkal. The program was organized by A.J. Institute of Engineering and Technology and sponsored by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. The resource person, Dr. A. S. S. Balan,

Assistant Professor at NITK Surathkal, provided insights into recent advancements in the field of additive manufacturing. There was also a hands-on session covering different methods of additive manufacturing at NITK Surathkal.
