Electronics & Communication Engineering

Our Vision

To establish the department as a center of excellence in creating globally competitive, socially responsible engineers to excel in the field of Electronics and Communication by transforming future challenges to sustainable opportunities.

Department Overview

Established in 2007, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has grown into a vibrant academic ecosystem focused on innovation, hands-on learning, and industry relevance.

The department focuses on four key domains: VLSI & Semiconductor Design, Communication and Control Systems, Embedded Systems & IoT, and Signal Processing. Well-equipped laboratories and a strong project-based learning approach ensure that students gain practical exposure alongside strong theoretical foundations.

Students also benefit from industry mentorship and collaborations with leading organizations such as Intel, Qualcomm, Honeywell, Synopsys, Tessolve, and DRDO, along with industry-supported Centers of Excellence in areas like VLS and Automation.

The department also actively nurtures innovation and entrepreneurship through initiatives supported by the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology (KSCST) and the New Age Incubation Network (NAIN). Under this ecosystem, 10 student- and faculty-led startups—Samarpan, Utkarsh, Samanvaya, Samyama, Udgam, Udbhav, Rachith, Muditha, Abhimaan, and Samagratha Sahyadri Tech LLP—have been incubated within the department, and four among these have also received recognition and additional funding under the Elevate 100 program. Collectively, these initiatives have attracted over ₹1.3 crore in external funding, reflecting the department’s strong culture of research, innovation, and technology-driven entrepreneurship.

With a balanced emphasis on academics, research, and industry exposure, the department continues to prepare students to contribute meaningfully to the evolving electronics and semiconductor industry.

HOD’S Message

Message from the Department’s Head

Welcome to the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at Sa hyadri College of Engineering & Management—a thriving Center of Academic Excellence, Research, and Innovation. Since our establishment in 2007, we have been committed to nurturing technically skilled, industry-ready engineers who can lead in the fast-evolving electronics and communication landscape.

As the global semiconductor industry surges past a valuation of $5OO—$600 billion (approx ₹50.1 lakh crores), and with India poised to become a major hub for electronics desig n and manufacturing, our department is aligned with national priorities and global trends. Our curriculum and ecosystem are shaped to prepare students for future-ready careers in this space. We focus on four specialized verticals that serve as pillars of our academic framework: Embedded Systems & Internet of Things (IoT); Communication and Control Systems; Very Large-Scale Integ ration (VLSI); and Signal Processing. The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has established several industry-su pported Centres of Excellence to strengthen domain-specific skills, promote innovation, and enhance employability among students.
