Placements and Training: Quest Global Strengthens Industry-Academia Collaboration at Sahyadri

Mr. Ravalnath Kamath, Vice President, and Ms. Neha Das, University Relations Manager at Quest Global, visited Sahyadri on 10th September 2024. They had an insightful meeting with the Principal, Heads of Departments (HODs), and the Dean of Placements to explore potential collaborations between Quest Global and the institution. The discussions revolved around various aspects, including enhancing student engagement through industry exposure, internship programs, live projects, and campus recruitment initiatives.

The delegation also shared insights into Quest Global's innovation-driven work culture and the key skills they seek in fresh graduates. The meeting aimed to align academic programs with industry requirements and provide students with increased opportunities for career growth in engineering domains. This visit is expected to further strengthen the partnership between Quest Global and Sahyadri, offering students a platform for hands-on learning and future employment prospects.

Sahyadri organized Internal Hackathon for Smart India Hackathon 2024

Sahyadri conducted the internal hackathon for Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024 on 9th Sep, 2024, a prestigious national initiative aimed at fostering innovation and problem-solving among students. The hackathon serves as a platform for young minds to tackle real-world challenges posed by various Central and State Ministries, PSUs, and organizations. By participating in SIH, students are encouraged to think creatively and work towards practical solutions that address some of the nation's pressing issues.

Around 60 teams registered for the event, out of which 51 were shortlisted for the internal hackathon. Evaluations were conducted by experts from both industry and academia, ensuring a thorough assessment of the projects. The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Navaneeth Bhaskar, Associate Dean (R&D) and SPOC for SIH 2024. Mr. Johnson Tellis, Trustee & CEO emphasized the importance of hackathons in fostering innovation, while Principal Dr. S S Injaganeri motivated students to participate in such events, highlighting how problem statements help them grow as engineers.
The results of the internal hackathon are expected to be announced soon, and the selected teams will move forward to represent Sahyadri at the national level SIH 2024. The event was coordinated by Prof. Harisha, IIC Convener, Dept. of CSE, ensuring its smooth execution.

MBA students facilitated a Workshop on ‘Inner Engineering’ at School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya

In association with Study Metro Mangalore the first-year MBA students-Anusha Shetty, Prathitha, Varun Rai, Spandana S K, Sheetal and Prajwal R Shekha conducted a workshop on ‘Inner Engineering’ at the School of Social Work, Roshni Nilaya on 4th Sep, 2024.
The workshop facilitated knowledge sharing, meaningful interaction, and collaborative learning. It brought valuable insights and contributions from the students, benefiting all the attendees at Roshni Nilaya.

HackHarbor: Summer Internship 2024, an Internship Program for Third-Semester

Day Seven

On the seventh day of the internship program, third-semester students explored further into C programming, covering structures, arrays of structures, nested structures, and unions, and highlighting their differences. Meanwhile, mechanical students continued learning about patents and enhancing their PowerPoint presentation skills. In the afternoon, Mr. Johnson Tellis, Trustee & CEO, engaged with the students, offering insights on the Super 30 program and underscoring the significance of upskilling. He explained the distinction between knowledge and skills, emphasizing the importance of consistent practice. Additionally, he addressed three common barriers to practicing and provided guidance on securing a good package through participation in national hackathons, real-time projects, and internships. The day concluded with problem-solving activities, where the top performers were rewarded.

Inauguration: The fifth batch of MDP for MRPL Employees

The fifth batch of MDP for MRPL employees will commence on 11th Sep, 2024 for a period of two days with 30 trainees from MRPL visiting the campus and being trained by the in-house experts of Sahyadri. The behavioural training will include sessions on “Value of Life’, ‘Value for work’, Organizational objectives and Net Zero, ‘Quality and Cost effectiveness’ and ‘Group Dynamics’. The trainees will receive a prominent ‘Welcome Kit’ sponsored by MRPL as well as ‘Certificate of Participation’ post clearing the assessment.
