Parent Interaction programme for the 1st year MBA 2023-2025 batch

Dept. of Business Administration organized a Parent Interaction programme for the 1st year MBA students on 27th July, 2024.
Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA Program presented the Road Map of MBA curriculum from the start to end. She also introduced the faculty members, the adjunct faculty from Industry as well as the in-house companies and LLPs established on the campus.

Later, Dr. Sushma V, the academic coordinator of the department introduced the Skill enhancement courses as well as the Results of 1st semester. She also featured the student achievements both at State and National levels.

Prof. Ramesh K G threw light on Placements. The training initiatives of the department and urged the parents to enquire with their ward about the status of various job openings posted on the whatsapp group.

Prof. Padmanabha B, shared information on the activities conducted under Sahyadri Management Students Association (SMSA) organized and led by the students themselves.

Dr. Ravindra Kaikini explained the various industrial visits carried out during the course of MBA as well as emphasized on the learning that happens not only the destination of the visit but also during the journey.

Dr. Umesh M Bhushi, Faculty of Higher Colleges of Technology, Abu Dhabi, UAE, the former Principal of Sahyadri commended the MBA department faculty for their dedicated efforts in spearheading initiatives that contribute to the holistic development of students. He said – “MBA students should know how to manage the house. They should know how to earn money from their salary through investments. This is the responsibility of the parents too”.

Aisiri Rai and Varun Rai, the current MBA students shared their opinion and experiences leading to their overall development.

Dr. S S Injaganeri, Principal in his concluding remarks mentioned that Sahyadri gives a lot of opportunities to the students, however it is their responsibility to capitalize this and build their career. “A nation can be developed when the three pillars are right – Teaching community (role models), law enforcing agencies and the judicial system”, he said. In his concluding remarks, Principal called upon the teachers, parents and the students to fulfil each other’s responsibilities to avoid any problem.

Concluding day of Two-Day MDP for MRPL employees at Sahyadri

On the concluding day of the Two-day Management Development Programme (MDP) for MRPL employees on July 26th, 2024, Prof. Samarth Shenoy from the Dept. of Business Administration facilitated an activity-based session on 'Change in the global situation'. The session focused on understanding current global trends and their implications for MRPL, engaging participants in strategic discussions and interactive simulations to prepare them for adapting to dynamic global environments effectively.

Prof. Monisha Shetty, Dept. of Business Administration, conducted the subsequent session on 'Quality and Cost Effectiveness'. This session likely centered on strategies to enhance product or service quality while optimizing costs, crucial for maintaining competitiveness in the market. Prof. Shetty's insights have aimed to equip attendees with practical tools and frameworks to strike a balance between delivering high-quality outputs and ensuring cost-effectiveness across organizational processes.

The final session of the day was conducted by Prof. Akshatha P, Dept. of Business Administration on the topic of 'Value for Work'. This session focused on instilling a deeper understanding of the importance of integrity, dedication, and excellence in professional endeavours. Participants explored concepts such as work ethic, accountability, and the significance of delivering meaningful contributions within their roles at MRPL. Prof. Akshatha P provided insights and practical strategies to inspire employees to consistently uphold high standards of performance and contribute positively to the organization's goals and values.

Dr. Sushma V, the convenor of the Management Development Programme (MDP), later administered the assessment and announced the results during the valedictory ceremony, which was graced by Dr. S S Injaganeri, Principal, and Dr. Vishal Samartha, Director-MBA Program. The top three performers in the assessment received prizes from Sahyadri. Additionally, prizes for other spot games were distributed, and participation certificates were handed out. Each MRPL trainee shared their feedback on the MDP, expressing a commitment to foster continued collaboration between Sahyadri and MRPL.

CSE HOD Mentors Student Research to IEEE ICAIT-2024 Conference Publication

Dr. Mustafa Basthikodi, Professor & Head of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, guided the students' final year project titled “AI-Based Automated Framework for Crime Detection and Crowd Management” for presentation at the IEEE International Conference on Advances in Information Technology (ICAIT-2024). The conference took place at Adichunchanagiri Institute of Technology (AIT), Chikkamagaluru, from July 24-27, 2024.
The student team—Srinivas Rao, Mohammed Basith, Elvicia Pinto, and B Vidya, all 2024 graduates from the Department of ISE—developed this innovative project. On behalf of entire team, Srinivas Rao presented the paper offline at the venue.
Abstract: Traditional monitoring methods are time-consuming and prone to errors. This research integrates AI and ML technologies to enhance crime detection and crowd management. The AI-based CCTV network allows real-time data analysis for anomaly detection and pattern recognition, improving security threat notifications and crowd monitoring. While implementation demands substantial investment and addresses privacy concerns, the project aims to modernize crime detection and crowd management effectively.
The papers presented will be submitted for publication in the IEEE Xplore® Digital Library through the IEEE Conference Publications Program (CPP) and indexed in Scopus.

Dept. of Mechanical and Robotics Engineering organizes Alumni Interaction

Mr. Pranjal Rai, an alumnus of the Department of Mechanical Engineering (2015-2019) and currently serving as Assistant Manager in the Planning and Projects Department at MCF, Mangaluru, interacted with 6th-semester Mechanical Engineering students. He briefed them on industrial internship opportunities, current trends, the roles and responsibilities of an engineer, and the process workflow at MCF. He also shared his experiences working at MAHWS Oilfield Services Pvt. Ltd., where he undertook projects in Saudi Arabia and South Korea. Prof. Suhas from the Department of Mechanical and Robotics Engineering coordinated the event.

Dr Prabhu interacts with the students of Silas International School and PU college

Dr. Ananth Prabhu G, Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Principal Investigator at the Digital Forensics and Cyber Security Centre of Excellence was invited by the Silas International School and PU college to interact with their students on Cyber Safety and to brief them a out the new laws introduced in India.

Mechanical Engineering Faculty invited as resource person to conduct a webinar at SDM Polytechnic, Ujire

Prof. Vinay B U, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering was invited as a resource person to conduct a webinar on “Sensors, Actuators, and Industry 5.0” on July 27, 2024, for the Diploma students of Mechanical and Electronics & Communication Engineering at SDM Polytechnic, Ujire. The session primarily focused on the applications of sensors and actuators, the prospects of Industry 5.0, and career opportunities for mechanical engineers in various sectors. Additionally, Prof. Vinay briefed the students about the facilities and practices at Sahyadri highlighting the internships, project works, and higher degree opportunities available to them.
A total of 150 students and faculty members from the Mechanical and Electronics & Communication Engineering departments attended the session.
