Sahyadri is Recognised as a Research Centre by Visvesvaraya Technological University

Those who wish to pursue PhD or MSc (Engg.) through research can apply twice in a year through the VTU Notifications (June/February). Applications are invited for registration to PhD/MSc (Engg) By Research Programmes under Part time Research Programmes through notification for registration to research programmes of VTU. Interested candidates may apply for registration through VTU Selection Process (Research Aptitude Test [Entrance Examination] followed by an Interview).

Research Programs by Department

Computer Science & Engineering

The department carries out research activities. The key thrust areas of research include Data Mining, Image Processing, Network Security, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning.

Electronics & Communication Engineering

The department conducts extensive research on cutting-edge development techniques including Image processing, Artificial Neural Network, Robotics, Signal Processing, VLSI and Renewable energy resources. The department has received grants from AICTE for conducting research activities and has published numerous papers in international and national conferences/journals.

Mechanical Engineering

Research work focuses on areas such as composite materials, turbo machinery, design & development of equipment, finite element analysis, heat & mass transfer and computational fluid dynamics.

Business Administration

The Department is actively engaged in research and consulting activities. Faculty members guide Doctoral candidates in the areas of Marketing, HR, Finance and Entrepreneurship Development.

Chemistry

The department carries out several research works in collaboration and through external funding. The key thrust areas of research include Electro Chemistry, Sensors, Photo Catalysis, Analytical Chemistry, Kinetic Studies and Nanotechnology.

Physics

The Physics department is actively engaged in research activities and collaborates with various institutions to advance scientific knowledge in theoretical and applied physics.

How to Apply

Application form can be downloaded from the VTU website. Interested candidates need to:

  • Mention the name of proposed Research Supervisor available at the Research Centre

  • Provide the proposed title (tentative) of the research/area of interest

  • Visit the concerned Department and interact with PhD Supervisors/Guides

  • Submit the Application to VTU along with necessary details and the consent of the proposed Supervisor/Guide
