Atmanirbhar Project (Make In India) @ Sahyadri – Nuclear Reactor Circulation Pump Parts

The Dept. of Mechanical Engineering and Caliper Engineering & Lab Pvt. Ltd, In-house Industry at Sahyadri are awarded with several Atmanirbhar (Make In India) projects.
In the journey to self-reliance, Sahyadri is leading the Dakshina Kannada Region by actively engaging with Defence and Nuclear sectors in many projects. Students of Mechanical Engineering at Sahyadri will have great time in being part of this epitome of learning and participating in the nation's prestigious projects.
Nuclear Power Corporation India Ltd, Tarapur, country’s first Nuclear Power plant are doing research in manufacturing Nuclear Reactor Circulation Pumps. Three critical components, which throw challenges in material science and manufacturing complexities, are entrusted with Sahyadri/Caliper for developing and supplying to them.
In each and every step of product development, students will witness greater connectivity between academics and industry. Application oriented deep learning will benefit Mechanical Engineering students of Sahyadri to evolve as Industry ready Engineers.
Objective of Nuclear Reactor Circulation Pump is to minimize the leakage of the radioactive material from the containment vessel in the event of the accident of nuclear power. At the time of such accident, pump sprays boric acid water into the vessel and eliminates contamination of the fissionable material.
