Inauguration of Online AICTE-ISTE National Refresher Programme - Phase III organized by Dept. of Mechanical Engineering

Inauguration of the Phase III of the AICTE-ISTE Online Refresher Programme on “Cooperative and Collaborative Teaching Learning Process” was held in the campus. The programme has received sponsor of Rs. 3,00,000/- jointly from AICTE and ISTE, Govt. of India. Dr. Rathishchandra R Gatti, Professor & the organizing Secretary of the event presented the schedule of the event. Dr. S Manjappa, Director (R&D, Consultancy) spoke about the importance of Collaborative and Cooperative Learning and also mentioned of the significance of Product-oriented learning.
Prof. Sachin R Jambhale, Executive Council Member (ISTE), Head of Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering at Mahatma Gandhi Mission’s College of Engineering and Technology, Noida was the Chief Guest of the event. In his inaugural address, Prof. Sachin R Jambhale stressed on the importance of Collaborative and Cooperative learning and appreciated Sahyadri for having organized the Faculty Development Programme (FDP). He also briefed on NEP, Industry 4.0 and emphasized on the importance on how future skills will be the major platform. He also spoke on various initiatives taken up by AICTE for the development of the Teaching-Learning process in higher education. Dr. S Manjappa, Director (R&D, Consultancy), shared the Presidential address and motivated the participants to actively participate and enhance their skill in building the education system. Dr. Ravichandra K R, Head of Mechanical Engineering and Chairman of the organizing committee delivered the Vote of Thanks. Members of the organizing committee, Prof. S S Balakrishna, Vice-Principal; Dr. Nalini E Rebello, Dean-Academics; Prof. Ajith BS, Prof. Pavitra Ajagol, Prof. Soumyashree, Prof. Vishal Bajpe and other faculty members were present during the inaugural ceremony.
The second session was engaged by Dr. Vijaya Kumari S N, Associate Professor of Education, PG Studies and Research in Education, St. Ann’s College of Education, Mangaluru. She is a Doctorate in Education from SNDT Women’s University Mumbai and has been awarded the Jamunabhai Gobindji Madhabji award for her Ph.D study. She facilitated a session on “Cooperative and Collaborative Learning: Constructivist Pedagogies to develop 21st Century Skills” and emphasized on the holistic learning approach.
Third session was engaged by Dr. Ravichandra K R, Professor and Head of Dept. of Mechanical Engineering at Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management. He is also handling additional responsibility as Dean- Industry Connect and Head of Autonomous Working Committee. Prof. Ravichandra K R engaged a session on “Simulation tools for interactive assignments”. In his presentation, he spoke about difference between Traditional Method of Education & Outcome Based Education, Student Centric Education, and Competency in Graduates of Higher Education & Bloom's Taxonomy. The input shared by Professor, benefits the participants to enhance their knowledge on outcome based learning.
