AICTE-ISTE National Refresher Programme - Phase III organized by Dept. of Mechanical Engineering

The first session was engaged by Dr. Sampath Kumar. He is at JSSATE, Noida and has worked as an Associate Dean (RDIC) at AKTU, Lucknow. He has 22 years of experience in the field of teaching and industry. He has 4 patents in the field of Memory Design. He has published more than 30 research papers in Scientific Journals and in Conference Proceedings. He has established 3 Centres of Excellence in the Electronics & Communication Engineering Department in the area of Analog and Embedded Technologies by signing MoU with Texas Instruments. He presented on “How Collaborative learning is practiced - Case Studies on Pedagogical Approaches”. He emphasized on outcome-based education by assessing the Managerial Competencies too during the course of Engineering.
The Second session was engaged by Dr. Rupal Thakkar, Assistant Professor, K J Somaiya College of Education, Mumbai on “Engaging students through cooperative learning and collaborative learning strategies”. She highlighted the significance of prescriptive and experiential curriculum, uses of cooperative learning, phases of cooperative learning, individual and group accountability and class activities.
The Third session was engaged by Dr. Pooja Birwatkar. She holds a Ph.D degree in Education and is currently working as an Assistant Professor in K J Somaiya College of Education, Somaiya Vidyavihar University Mumbai. The main focus of her talk was on “Dialogic Teaching, Argumentations and Design thinking in Collaborative Learning Spaces”. During her presentation, she highlighted the use of argumentation as pedagogy, the power of strategic pauses class lectures, project-based learning, experiential learning, problem-based learning and Inquiry learning.
The Fourth session was engaged by Dr. Nathi Ram Chauhan. He is working as a Professor and Head of Mechanical and Automation Engineering at Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women, Delhi. He received his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Roorkee and MTech in Machine Design from IIT, Roorkee. He has teaching experience of more than 18 years and has published 120+ research papers in National and International Journals. His talk was on “Instructional Design and Learning Strategy”. He highlighted on how to design, develop and deliver the instructions systematically to be efficient and effective in teaching.
