AICTE-ISTE National Refresher Programme Phase-3 organized by Dept. of Mechanical Engineering

Day Five (27th Apr’2021):
First and Third session was engaged by Dr. S. N. Bhat, Associate Director, Faculty Development and Welfare, MIT, Manipal. In the first session, he stressed on Designing Assessments for measurement of student learning and explained about the different types of assessments, methods and tools for assessments and how to design assessments according to the pedagogies. In the third session, his talk mainly focused on Construction of MCQs for effective assessment and how multiple-choice questions can be effectively designed for accurate assessment of the knowledge and skills in the students. He also explained the Do's and Don’ts by holding an interactive quiz with the participants.
Second session was engaged by Dr. Flosy D’souza, Associate Professor, St. Ann's PG Studies & Research in Education, Mangaluru. She holds PhD degree in Education from Karnataka University. Her talk mainly focused on Active Learning Strategies. During her presentation, she emphasized on the Paradigm shift in teaching and learning process, Learning objectivities, activities and Assessment, Blooms Taxonomy and Revised Taxonomy, Common methods/Strategies in learning process.

Day Six (28th Apr’2021):
On the Concluding Day, the First session was engaged by Dr. Shilpa Suri, Consulting Psychologist, Director-Planet Psychology and S.N.M IAS Academy. She discussed on developing a growth mind-set, how it is different from a fixed mind-set, how faculty and students can develop a growth mind-set and how collaborative learning can help in building the growth mind-set. She provided several research evidences on the advantages of growth mind-set.
Valedictory Ceremony:
The All-India Level AICTE-ISTE Refresher Program- Phase-III came to an end with a Valedictory Programme. The Chief Guest of the programme was Dr. Y Vijaya Kumar, Principal, GMIT, Davangere. Dr. Rajesha S, Principal welcomed the gathering, and congratulated the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering for the successful completion of the Phase-I, Phase-II and Phase-III. Dr. Ravichandra K R, Dean-Industry Connect & HoD of Mechanical Engineering Department, presented the glimpse of all the sessions held in the Phase-III. Dr. Y Vijaya Kumar, in his address, discussed how the industry has evolved from industry 2.0 to industry 4.0 and linked it to parallel education evolution and student evolution. He emphasized that the chosen theme of the workshop was the need of the hour for education 4.0 and appreciated the institute for hosting this FDP. Dr. Manjappa S, Director, Research and Consultancy, delivered the presidential address and appreciated teams effort in taking the proposal of funding to the closure by successfully executing the programme. Dr. Rathishchandra Gatti, Professor, Dept. of Mechanical Engineering conveyed the Vote of Thanks.
