Director-R&D addresses MBAs on “Economic Analysis of Sugar Industry in India”

Dr. Manjappa S, Director-R&D and Consultancy, facilitated a Talk on ‘Economic Analysis of Sugar Industry in India’ for MBA final year students on 20th Dec, 2021. He spoke about the current financial scenario of sugar manufacturing industry, implications of various by-product manufactured using bagasse and Ethanol waste produced in the process of sugar manufacturing. Students were asked to brainstorm on how to re-engineer the whole operations process of sugar industry to recover the current deficit factories. They were also asked to design strategies to ensure company’s run full-fledged for the whole year rather than being seasonal. He briefed on government decontrol and their impact, cost of production involved in manufacturing process and robust growth in sugar consumption. He concluded the session by inducing students to critically think on the case study which involved revamping the loss making sugar manufacturing firm.
