Faculty Receives Award in State Level Story Writing Competition, held at Kannada Sahitya Parishath, Bengaluru

Prof. Akshaya Kumari Shetty, Dept. of Humanities, secured 1st Place in Triveni Dathinidhi State Level Story Writing Competition, organized by Karnataka Lekhakiyara Sangha, Bengaluru, at an Award function held at Kannada Sahitya Parishath, Bengaluru, on 8th Dec’19.

Prof. S G Sidharamayya, Former President of Kannada Abivrudhi Praadhikaara and a well-known personality, was the Chief Guest, who felicitated the winners. Ms. Vanamaala Sampanna Kumar, President of Karnataka Lekhakiyara Sangha, presided over the function. Ms. Meera Kumar, daughter of Late Prof. Shanker and Triveni was also present.

Anasuya Shanker, a famous Novelist popularly known by her pen name as Triveni, passed away in her early age. She wrote a collection of almost 21 novels and 3 short stories. Almost all were very famous novels of that era and a few of them were made into feature films. In her fond memory her husband Prof Shanker started this foundation, through which Prof. Shanker and their daughter Meera Kumar encouraged and motivated young writers. Prof. Akshaya Kumari Shetty, won first place in this story writing competition.
