Thousands Converge at Mangala Stadium for the ‘Sahyadri 10K Run Mangaluru’ and Create History in the Making

Sahyadri 10K Run organised by Dakshina Kannada Athletic Association- DKAA in line with Fit India Movement, and promoted by Bhandary Foundation was held on 02-02-2020, from 6:00 am onwards at Mangala Stadium, Mangaluru.
The Title Sponsor was Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru and Mr. Gurukiran, Music Director Film Industry was the Brand Ambassador. With the tag-line of ‘Swaccha - Parisara - Hasiru - Usiru’ an event of such magnitude was organised.
As the dawn of the Unique Palindrome Date 02-02-2020, broke into gleams of sunshine, basking in the light and beckoning people of all walks of life, the various categories of Sahyadri 10K Run were flagged off for an amazing start.
Challenge Run - 10K - Men & Women
- 10K Elite Run – Fit India (above 18 years)
- 10K Open to All (above 18 years)
- 10K for Students (18 to 25 years)
Participants included students and professionals from different fields and locals and the total participants were 410.
Future Run - 2K for Students - Boys & Girls
This was for teens aged between 14-16 years, wherein the selected boys & girls will be trained under DKAA, to produce Future Champions of Mangaluru. The total number of participants who participated with zeal were around 1200 to 1500 (Boys & Girls) from 70+ schools in and around Mangaluru and other schools of Karnataka.
5K - Competitive Run for Men & Women
The 5K Run was organized to prepare the future runners to the National and International Champions with age between 16 to 25 years. Both boys and girls in the age group of 16-25 from various colleges participated with exclusive determination. Total participants were 720.
5K - Maza with Healthy Run - Open to all
This is a category for Men and Women. Their participation to spread awareness about fitness culture will accomplish the mission of Swaccha - Parisara - Hasiru - Usiru. So much of happiness was seen as an astounding 6,500 to 7,000 participants including 50+ Institutions, Organizations and General Public participated.
Eminent personalities from various spheres enlivened the Morning, with their very presence and some of them even flagged off the various categories of Run.

Sahyadri 10K Run is the first of its kind exclusively organized in association with The Department of Youth Empowerment & Sports, Government of Karnataka; Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), Bengaluru; Mangalore University, Mangaluru and Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi.
The Sahyadri 10K Run Mangaluru a remarkable event of promoting healthy environment has clearly portrayed that it is vital that we promote greenness, cleanliness and healthiness.
