Satish K. Tripathi, President, University at Buffalo (UB)
The first international-born president in UB’s history, Dr. Tripathi graduated at the top of his class from Banaras Hindu University in India. In addition to a doctorate in computer science from the University of Toronto, he holds three master's degrees—one in computer science from the University of Toronto and two in statistics from the University of Alberta and Banaras Hindu University.
Dr. Tripathi was awarded the honorary doctorate of sciences from the prestigious Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad, and received an honorary doctorate of law from Brock University in Ontario, Canada. He also has been honored with the 2009 Distinguished Alumnus Award from Banaras Hindu University.
John J Wood, Vice Provost for International Education, University at Buffalo (UB)
As a Vice Provost, Wood serves as the chief university officer responsible for all central international programs and services at University at Buffalo, which include study abroad and exchange programs; international student services for 5,000 enrolled international students; international recruitment and admissions; sponsored international development activities in the training and research areas; immigration services for foreign-national employees and for visiting scholars from overseas; international publications; and the internationalization of the university curricula.
Prior to joining the Office of International Education, Wood served as an assistant director of the University at Buffalo English Language Institute. Wood received his Ph.D. in English from the University at Buffalo, with a focus on Early American Literature.
