Inaugural Ceremony of Fresher’s Day for the First Year Engineering students

The Fresher’s Day Ceremony was inaugurated by Mr. Jeevan Saldanha, Chairman of CII Mangaluru, Chief Executive Spectrum Industries, Mangaluru and Mr. Hariram Shankar, IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law & order) Mangaluru city in the presence of Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman-Bhandary Foundation.
Mr. Manjunath Bhandary, in his speech, reiterated that Engineering is a basic Degree encompassing it as a learning subject and not studying subject and learning it will help to retain and remember. He mentioned that the first year Engineering students are sent for competitions in IITs and NITs with a motive to interact and mingle with best talents. Post Lamp Lighting ceremony, the Guest of Honour – Mr. Jeevan Saldanha addressed the gathering and mentioned that, although his family owned a shipping line of business, he wanted to follow his heart and work on his key strengths. He evaluated more than 40 projects and was persistent enough to pick the right one.
He briefly spoke about the present education system and how it is encouraging us to perform better. He said - the Syllabus we study in Engineering is completely different from the real world. So, he urged the students not to grab the first job that comes their way.
He asked the students not to end up doing a job that doesn’t fuel up their passion. He emphasized on “Do what excites you, aspire to be an entrepreneur”. Success is 90% of hard work and 10% of Talent. Time Management is a very important skill to acquire and how we utilize the 86 thousand seconds in a day seals our fate in a big way. He concluded his message by saying – “Keep trying and don’t be afraid to fail”.
This was followed by felicitating the Bridge Course participants. Chief guest Mr. Hariram Shankar, his speech highlighted about the vocational abilities of Engineering and requested students to be clear on the prospective job that they want to pursue. He encouraged the students by re-iterating that they have enrolled in the best college and it can be the perfect launch pad for them. However, it also depends on how they learn and take responsibility of own-self. There can be delayed gratification and one needs to be patient for their time to come, ‘Apna Time Aayega’ must be the chant wherein one realizes and respects their own potential. He concluded his speech by stimulating students to commit socially in addition to economic progression.
The programme came to an end with the Vote of Thanks by Dr. Rajesha S, Principal. A Cutural Programme was organized during the afternoon.
