MBA Faculty and Students attend Seminar on 'Labour Law Compliance' by KCCI

Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mangaluru organized a Seminar on 'Labour Law Compliance' for their members and associates on 29th March, 2022. Mr. Shivakumar, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Mangaluru Division was the resource person. Prof. Ramesh K G, Dean-Strategic Planning along with R K Samarth Kumar, Nireeksha I, Shravya S Chowta - first year MBA students attended the session.
Mr. Shivakumar, ALC, briefed the audience about various labour law provisions like Payment of Gratuity Act, Minimum Wages Act, Contract Labour Act, Payment of Bonus Act etc. He narrated a few instances as to how wrong interpretation of legal provision can lead to challenges to be faced by the organizations. He further mentioned that organizations have to comply with labour law provisions and take necessary guidance from the department wherever necessary as there are more than 30 labour laws that need to be complied with. Labour laws are meant to assist the organization and welfare of people working in those organizations. Hence, a thorough knowledge of labour law is a must and workshop like this will enlighten the stakeholders to follow the regulations end to end.
Mr. Shashidhar Pai Maroor, President; Mr. Ganesh Kamath, Vice President; Mr. Nissar Fakeer Mohammed, Secretary KCCI, Past Presidents, Office Bearers of KCCI, Members and other associates were present for the session. The seminar ended with a Q & A session with the audience and members of KCCI.
