Overview Of Computer Science & Engineering

The Department of Computer Science & Engineering started in the year 2007 with an intake of 60 and is a fast growing discipline and is full of rigorous practical analysis. The department is planning to grow in supersonic speed as far as Technical expertise; Faculty Strength, Modern Teaching Aids, Browsing facilities etc. are concerned. The department also interacts with the industries on a regular basis to develop the capabilities in the latest technologies. The department has setup the state of the art laboratories with computing facilities and peripheral devices.

The department has an intake of 180 students in UG (B. E.) category. With highly talented faculty, the department boasts of a unique mode of learning, one that uses advanced aids for teaching. Our faculty and students are actively involved in intense interactions that help our students gain practical exposure, much before they are part of the IT industry. Simulated projects and many times, live projects, give our students the thrill of livewire action of the software industry. And beyond the technology side of Computer Science, our curriculum focuses on the behavioral aspects and management perspectives of the Information Technology.

certificate_of_appreciation_cs

MyCaptain is an online platform that helps students to take the first step in their field of passion with the help of young achievers, mentors and guides (Captains). Captains are under the age of 25 and have gone through the same journey these students wish to undertake. They are published authors, young entrepreneurs, investors, award-winning film makers, journalists, designers, developers etc. A student who wants to write a book gets mentored by a young published author. A student who is passionate about entrepreneurship is mentored by founders of startups.

Edvicer is a startup by IIT students, Delhi. It mainly deals with a course aggregator platform that will display, compare & recommend online courses offered by all major platforms such as Coursera, edX, Udemy, NPTEL and many more. Under the guidance of his mentor Prof. Rajesh Nayak, Dept. of Computer Science & Engineering he was able to gain this remarkable achievement.

A mentee is someone who has identified a specific personal or professional goal and who believes that the guidance and help of a mentor – and being held accountable to the mentor – can help them achieve their goal.

Teaching Learning Process

Teaching Learning Process

Peer to Peer Learning

In order to improve the student learning process and self-esteem, cooperative and peer to peer learning process is practiced. The process involves more of student’s involvement, where they design various tasks and involve their peers to take up that task there by improving positive relationship and garner wider friends circle.

Guidelines of peer to peer learning process:
  • Class Representative (CR) will be in charge of taking attendance of the students during respective hours.
  • Faculty members will identify a team of four students (Called peer team) in their subject.
  • They will engage the class. He/she should elect a topic (from syllabus) for which they must deliver a presentation during the respective hours.
  • Toward the end of each class, a small quiz about five questions will be conducted as a test, which will be evaluated by the peer team itself at later stage.
  • The peer team has to submit consolidated report of the test to respective faculty member.
  • Faculty member will discuss result of Quiz in the subsequent classes and clarify the doubts.

Case Study Based Approach

Case studies are given to the students to enhance the communication and presentation skills of the students.

Guidelines for case study based approach are as follow
  • Case studies can be given on topics which are relevant in syllabus but should have some impact of application of the topic with real world examples.
  • If case studies are given in programming or problematic subjects then students are expected to show the demonstration during their presentation.
  • Generally case studies should be assigned to a team of students.
  • Appropriate rubrics should be developed for evaluation of the case studies.
